The DDS Externship program are comprised of clinical and didactic programs specifically designed for international students and graduates. These unique programs are designed to provide valuable clinical, pre-clinical, hands on and didactic experiences in a broad range of dental specialties. Each rotation offers a course outline of didactic components and clinical experiences in dental specialties, subspecialties and advanced techniques.
DDS rotations are divided into 4-week modules as well as in a 12-week series for which a certificate of completion will be granted. These certificate programs provide advanced training utilizing state of the art technology and materials, research experiences and presentation opportunities at professional society meetings.
Our Faculty offer letters of recommendation based on performance. Letters will be focused on their observation of the student, or stories about their experiences with them that reflect his/her potential, professionalism, clinical acumen, interpersonal and leadership skills, passion for dentistry, etc.
Certificate programs are offered in select specialties where students complete a series of advanced training modules. These programs involve attendance at didactic seminars/courses, clinical experiences and scholarly activity/research over the course of 3 to 6 rotations depending on specialty. A faculty committee in charge of administering the Certificate will review each applicant’s portfolio and, if approved, the Certificate will be granted upon completion of the rotation series.
Externship courses enable international dental graduates the opportunity to be mentored by teaching faculty in private outpatient environments. Each rotation provides graduates experience working within the US healthcare system.
